Many years ago when I had my first child, dear friends who weren’t ready to start a family, decided to have a puppy instead. They didn’t really think things through. They wanted a puppy and didn’t consider the implications involved in taking one on, especially as they were both working full time.

I absolutely adore my dog but have to wonder just how unhygienic it is to allow her to sleep on my bed?
I made the mistake (in my eyes) of allowing her to sleep there every night when she was quite young. There was no mistaking the look in her eyes when she realised that it was time for bed. She would position herself diagonally across the bottom of the bed, directly where my feet wanted to be. All through the night she would re-address her position, making herself comfortable, totally oblivious to the fact that every move she made woke me up. But as uncomfortable as it was, I really didn’t mind her being there.
